The accuracy of production measurement systems will be impacted by drift in instruments due to environmental conditions, process changes, human intervention or component failure. Seemingly small systematic errors in a measurement system will aggregate over time with the potential to result in large measurement errors if unchecked. SGS provides a comprehensive range of calibration services to verify that instruments are operated within acceptable tolerances (as specified in approved procedures) and inspect flow computers and other system components to ensure that flow computer performance continues in accordance with acceptance criteria and that configurations are unchanged. SGS procedures, personnel and test equipment used for these activities ensure traceability is maintained. Maintaining records of calibration and verification is essential to verify that measurement system operation has been maintained in accordance with specified operations criteria. In the event that out of tolerance instruments or equipment is found during an inspection, SGS will provide an estimate of the impact on measurement that may be used to correct productions accounts. |
