Mass balance audits

SGS applies its knowledge and experience of natural gas metering and measurement uncertainty to develop and operate systems of mass balance over production assets to ensure that measurement is maintained within its specified design criteria at all times

By comparing the measured mass of hydrocarbons arriving with the measured mass of hydrocarbons departing a shared processing or transportation facility and taking into account hydrocarbons use within the facility, SGS is able to verify the operation of receipt and dispatch gas metering.

SGS provides means of ensuring that all users of shared transportation and processing are “allocated” gas production in accordance with applicable sales/purchase agreements and national/international standards.

SGS approach to operation of production accounting systems and mass balance techniques ensures that the required high level of traceability is maintained for all measurement activities.
